Do you know who your ideal client/fan/customer is or are you suffering from trying to please everyone in the world? Most musicians have this theory that they need to appeal to everyone in order to grow a big fanbase but the problem in wanting to appeal to everyone is that this won’t allow you to stand out in front of the crowd. So how does one stand out of the crowd? The answer is to attract and repel people by speaking strategically and effectively to one specific person. Of course, there will be others who will like the content that you are putting out, and that is wonderful, but the importance is to strategically and effectively attract and repel so that your ideal client can find you. Once you know who you are talking to, you will know how to create content for him/her so that you can communicate with them organically. So, how do you identify your ideal client? Think of all of the things that you would want your ideal client to be like and create your ideal client. You have to dig deep to create your ideal client by asking yourself some important questions so that you not only know exactly who you are talking to but how they want to be spoken to.

When it comes to thinking about these questions, you should take into consideration the professional and personal moments that you can highlight on your social media that will attract your ideal client to follow you. Keep in mind that you want to attract people who love to invest in themselves as much as they want to invest in the accounts that they are attracted to. Word of mouth is still just as important as it was before social media so give 100% of everything that you have in your branded experience to your clients so that you are spoken about in a positive light and others will want to invest in you by hiring you for their events, purchasing your music, and recommending you to their family and friends. When creating your ideal client profile, remember to stay true to who you are as an artist. Never try to be something that you are not in hopes of standing out in a saturated market because YOU are exactly what makes you stand out from the rest. YOU are one of a kind, YOUR STORY is one of a kind, and you will attract and repel people accordingly so that you can gain a following that is truly interested in you. Do not fear the idea of repelling people, instead, take comfort in knowing that the people who follow you on social media are there because they are truly interested in who you are.
